The 2022 U.S. Flag stamp continues a long-standing postal tradition, honoring the American flag as a symbol of national pride and unity. Designed and illustrated by Laura Stutzman, the stamp’s artwork was created by blending three separate photographs of the same flag into one powerful, dynamic image.
This set of six Forever stamps presents the Stars and Stripes in a variety of striking designs, each celebrating the flag’s enduring presence in American life.
As Glynis Seeley once reflected, “You don’t truly understand the meaning of the [American] flag until someone hands you a folded one.” This powerful sentiment speaks to the solemn flag-folding ceremony performed at military funerals, where members of the service fold the flag precisely thirteen times — each fold symbolizing honor, sacrifice, and the values for which the flag stands.
Together, these stamps serve as both a tribute to the nation’s heritage and a daily reminder of the courage, principles, and unity represented by the Stars and Stripes.
