USPS Tulip Blossoms Stamps — A Celebration of Spring
The U.S. Postal Service welcomed spring with the release of its Tulip Blossoms stamps, honoring one of the world’s most admired flowers. The First Day of Issue Ceremony was held at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, Oregon, where colorful blooms and Dutch cultural traditions created the perfect backdrop.
The Tulip Blossoms set features 10 different stamps, each showcasing a close-up image of a tulip in vivid detail. Captured by photographer Denise Ippolito, these striking photographs place the beauty of each flower front and center, celebrating the elegance, variety, and popularity of tulips across the United States.
Tulips have long held a special place in American celebrations of spring. Holland, Michigan, home to one of the country’s largest tulip festivals, began its Tulip Time tradition in 1928 by planting 100,000 bulbs imported from the Netherlands. Over the decades, it has grown into an eight-day cultural event featuring parades, traditional Dutch dancing, art, concerts, and more. Today, the festival fills the city with around six million tulips, drawing over a million visitors each May to enjoy its vibrant colors and Dutch-inspired charm.
The Tulip Blossoms stamps capture this sense of renewal and cultural heritage, offering a fresh, floral touch to everyday correspondence while celebrating the enduring beauty of springtime.
