2000 Four Flowers Forever Postage Stamps
2000 Four Flowers Forever Postage Stamps
The Four Flowers stamp series, first issued in 2000, features beautiful photographs of four elegant cut flowers: Freesia, Cymbidium Orchid, Longiflorum Lily, and Asian Hybrid Lily. This release marked the first time photographs were used instead of illustrations on U.S. flower stamps, highlighting a fresh, modern approach to floral design.
These non-denominated 34¢ stamps were issued in self-adhesive format in anticipation of the 2001 First-Class postage rate increase. Each stamp pane is printed on both sides of the booklet, offering convenient access and an attractive presentation.
The stamps were made available in multiple formats, including:
-
A self-adhesive booklet of 20
-
A self-adhesive vending book of 20
-
A self-adhesive coil of 100
Designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, D.C., the stamps are based on stunning photographs by Robert Peak of Winter Park, Florida. Peak’s photography captures the color, texture, and delicate beauty of each flower with extraordinary detail. In his 25 years as a photographer, designer, and filmmaker, Peak’s fine art has been featured in major publications and is held in collections worldwide.
